Our Story
Bear Creek Gelbviehs has been a family oriented ranch since January 2006. We simply strive to be the best. We currently have 10 of our purebred and balancer cattle that meet or excel there breed average by two or more of the certafied Gelbvieh and Blanacer EPD's. These cattle, along with Embryo and AI work is what we plan to continue our program with. Not only do we run performance gelbvieh and balancer cattle, we also run about 50 mostly comercial SimAngus cows bred back to a Gelbvieh bull to have calves that we sell as show steers, or comercial heifers.
Why Gelbvieh ?
1) Information published by the USDA Meat Research Center (MARC) in Clay Center, Neb., shows Gelbvieh produces more pounds of weaned calf per cow exposed than any other widely used breed.
2) MARC data also indicates that Gelbvieh is the only widely used breed that excels in calving ease, weaning growth, yearling growth, milk yield and retail yield combined.
3) Gelbvieh is the one breed that combines exceptional maternal ability with the added muscle and performance that commercial producers demand.
4) Gelbvieh is the crossbreeding continental breed of choice, excelling in profitability. Cattlemen participating at the Composite Cattle Breeders annual meeting in 2000 gave Gelbvieh the nod for growth, muscle and maternal power.
